Completed Product Storage Tank, Product Line and Hydrant Line
Safe, compliant fuel storage is the backbone of reliable distribution. BoratGlobal delivered a fully operational product storage tank, associated product line and hydrant line for A&E Petroleum at Ifie-Kporo, Warri — a project that reinforced our capability to deliver robust, regulation-compliant fuel infrastructure under challenging site conditions.
Challenges
The project required construction of a large-diameter product storage tank and integration with existing distribution systems in an active petroleum facility. Key challenges included constrained site access, variable ground conditions, strict environmental and fire-safety regulations, and the need to avoid operational downtime during tie-ins.
Additional complexities included ensuring leak-tight pipeline connections, correct bunding and drainage, and meeting stringent welding and coating quality standards to prevent contamination and corrosion.
Solution
BoratGlobal executed a phased delivery plan to minimise disruption and guarantee safety. We began with detailed site surveys and geotechnical assessments to design a reinforced foundation and engineered bund. Civil works included site clearance, compaction and concrete base construction to meet tank load requirements.
Our fabrication and erection team installed the storage tank using certified welding procedures and third-party NDT inspections at key welds. Simultaneously, pipeline crews installed the product line and hydrant line with pre-qualified fittings, pressure-rated materials and full material traceability. All pipeline tie-ins were scheduled during planned low-activity windows and executed under permit-to-work controls to maintain continuous operations.
Quality assurance ran throughout the project: weld inspection, coating application and holiday testing, cathodic protection provisions where required, and full hydrostatic testing of tank and pipeline systems. We completed commissioning with contamination checks, flow verification and firefighting system integration. Final handover included O&M documentation, test certificates, and operator training so the facility could enter service safely and with minimal ramp-up time.
